Test & Results

Blood test appointments

Blood tests are carried out at Ruthin Community Hospital Outpatients department and are by appointment only.

To book an appointment, please call 03000 850025 between 10.00am and 2.00pm.

If you are experiencing symptoms which you feel require a blood test, please contact Reception to book an appointment with a clinician. Our Reception Team cannot print/generate a blood form unless it has been requested by a Clinician.

Urine samples

If you feel you have symptoms of a urinary tract infection (UTI) please call the surgery to speak to a clinician. They will be able to offer advice and/or treatment if they feel it is required. If you are asked to bring a urine sample to the surgery this must be in a white top, sterile container. If you do not have a container, please attend the surgery where you can collect the container and provide a sample using the patient toilets at the surgery.

Any samples brought to the surgery in a container other than listed above will be discarded due to risk of contamination. This may delay treatment or results being obtained from the labs.

We ask that all patients allow a minimum of 3 working days following their test for their results to be received and reviewed by a clinician, this includes urine tests, stool samples and swab results . Some tests can take longer to be sent back to us in which case, the clinician who is requesting the test will advise you of this or our Reception Team may need to ask you to call back after a few more days have passed.

Please ensure all samples are brought to the surgery by 12.00pm so that they can be processed and collected on the same day.

X-Ray and Scan Results

Please allow a minimum of 7 working days before contacting the surgery for your result. Sometimes it may take longer for your result to be returned to the practice (please see above for hospital requested tests). The Clinician who is performing your X-ray/Scan should advise on how long it may take for the results to be sent back to the practice.

Please note, it is the patients responsibility to call for any results. Please only call between 2.00pm and 6.00pm.
